Orion Herman

(O-Rye-On)

I’m a Utah-based filmmaker, drone pilot, editor, VFX artist, and sound designer with a passion for capturing stories that take people places they’ve never been.

I grew up between the Seattle metro and Montana, where I learned to find reprieve from work and school in the outdoors building a love for adventure that still drives the way I work. Flying drones first pulled me into filmmaking, I bought my first one with my first paycheck from my first job in high school. Over a decade later, shots from the sky remain one of my favorite ways to tell a story. From remote mountains to busy live events, I love sharing the world from a vantage point less seen.

In 2023 I graduated from Montana State University with a degree in mechanical engineering, and I like to think that analytical training shows up in every aspect of my work. Combining a high level of precision, structure and problem solving techniques with a background of discipline and grit from a lifetime as a competitive hockey player gives me a unique drive and approach to filmmaking. Whether it’s a remote shoot location, a tight deliverable timeline, or any wild ask in between I've always been excited to find a way to get the job done.

Some of my favorite collaborations have been with Team USA, Oakley, eBay Motors, Rocky Talkie, Ikon Pass, Le Creuset, Orvis, Rails-to-Trails, and Stone Glacier - projects that pushed me to explore new terrain, both literally and creatively. Above all, I love meeting new people, learning their stories, and helping translate them into something that’s both visually engaging and emotionally resonant.

Looking forward to connecting with you!
